Synthesis of Nanostructured TiO2 Microparticles with High Surface Area

Hydrothermal reactions represent a simple and efficient method for the preparation of nanostructured TiO2 particles that could be interest as photocatalysts or catalytic supports. Although particle size is in range 2–5 µm, nanostructures composing ensure large specific surface area with values above 100 m2/g. The effects different synthesis parameters on morphology, photocatalytic activity, stability prepared material were studied. morphology powders was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To further characterize samples, morphologies measured activity tested degrading model pollutants under UV irradiation. results show initial had little effect properties. On other hand, final calcination temperature significantly increased degradation rates, making it comparable to P25 (particle 20–30 nm).
